We understand that taking care of your furry family members can come with a lot of questions, which is why we've created a page with answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Prompt Vet.

Whether you're a new pet owner or a long-time pet parent, we want to assist you in providing your pet with the best care possible. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us, and our knowledgeable staff will be happy to assist you.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit to Prompt Vet will typically involve an initial evaluation of your pet's medical condition. One of our veterinary assistants will ask you questions about your pet's symptoms, medical history, and any medications or supplements they are currently taking. Dr. Wolf will review the detailed history and perform a physical exam to assess your pet's overall health and look for any signs of illness or injury. Depending on the nature of your pet's condition, Dr. Wolf may recommend diagnostic tests, such as blood work or x-rays, to help determine the underlying cause of symptoms. Treatment options will be discussed with you and an estimate provided for all services prior to completion. You can expect your Prompt Vet visit to be efficient and focused on addressing your pet's immediate medical needs. A complete record of the visit will be forwarded to your primary care veterinarian, ideally within 24 hours.

I have an after hours or weekend emergency and Prompt Vet is not open. Where should I take my pet?

You may contact the following emergency services based on your central Illinois location.

What’s the difference between Prompt Vet Care vs. Emergency Care?

Prompt care services for pets are designed to provide quick and efficient medical attention for pets with urgent, non-life-threatening medical conditions. We will also provide emergency care during daytime hours, on an as-needed basis, as our capacity allows.

What's the difference between Prompt Vet and other veterinary clinics?

Prompt Vet is here to help support existing daytime veterinary clinics that are at capacity for service on any given day. After you receive care at Prompt Vet, detailed records of your visit including laboratory diagnostics and imaging will be sent to your pet’s primary care provider, allowing them to schedule a follow up appointment with you.

Note: If there is availability, Prompt Vet will provide wellness care, in the form of an annual exam and vaccinations on an urgent need basis (kenneling, travel, etc.). In those cases, the visit summary and vaccinations given will be sent to your primary care veterinarian to schedule a follow up annual exam and for annual reminders to be generated.

Do I have to have an appointment or can I walk in with my pet?

We appreciate a phone call in advance so we can plan our schedule to best serve our patients. Appointments will be scheduled in the order received from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.

What are my payment options during my visit?

We accept Cash, credit card (VISA, MC, Discover, AmEx) or CareCredit. Payment is due at the time of your visit. We do not accept checks.

Do you offer in-home end of life care?

Dr. Wolf will continue to provide Wolf Veterinary Services current clients with the option for home euthanasia.

For non-Wolf Veterinary Services clients, Prompt Vet is happy to refer you to Dr. Jessica Keay with Peaceful Tails End-of-Life Veterinary Care for home euthanasia.

Please visit peacefultailsvet.com or call Dr. Keay at 217-993-8245.
